Amy is originally from Tennessee. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee. After teaching Kindergarten in Tennessee for a year she relocated to Texas where she taught preschool through second grade classes along with college courses. While teaching college she realized that she enjoyed teaching adults age appropriate education practices, as much as she enjoyed being in the classroom with six year olds.
After being in the education field for 11 years Amy had her first child and stayed home with her children until the youngest was 5 and in school. She then returned to education where she taught 1st grade at her sons’ school and later became a Curriculum Coordinator. She is currently a Professional Development Specialist with the Council for Professional Recognition. Her responsibilities include conduction final reviews for teachers who are seeking their CDA certification. In the future she plans on pursuing her lifelong dream of obtaining her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
Amy is passionate about working with families and children to help students grasp concepts with age appropriate curriculum. She believes learning should be fun and understands that children learn differently. She is also passionate about family harmony and school concepts, morning routine or homework time being “negative” time for your family. She specializes in school readiness, creating fun and engaging activities with your child’s current curriculum, hands-on activities, struggling concepts, successful morning routines, and successful homework times.
