Teri S

Preschool Selection, Alternative Education and Private School Selection

Teri grew up in Tennessee and Nebraska and earned an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with the support of a Mellon Fellowship in the Humanities. She spent much of her professional life as a freelance book editor, which allowed her the flexibility to pursue other rewarding roles: urban homesteader, occasional community organizer, school volunteer, and, most importantly, mom. A passionate advocate for education transformation, Teri became an educational consultant and publisher in 2011.

In addition to helping parents find the right fit for their kids through private consultations, her work includes observing and writing about local schools, keeping up with the latest developments in education through scholarly literature, journalism, and conferences; and maintaining good working relationships with teachers and administrators at schools throughout Greater Austin. She is also a co-founder of the Education Transformation Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports and strengthens the local alternative education community.

She specializes in helping families through the school selection process and offers resources for parents seeking information on alternative education.
